Kayumanis – Clausena anisum-olens
Family: Rutaceae
Description: A small tree growing up to 3 – 6m tall. Aromatic leaves are compound, 20 – 30cm long; leaflets 7 – 11, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate. Flowers are greenish white, fragrant, about 8mm in diameter. Fruit is globose or ovoidly ellipsoid up to 18mm in diameter.
Distribution: Luzon, (Bontoc, Benguet, Pampanga, Batangas, Bataan, Laguna, Rizal, Sorsogon, Masbate, Mindoro).
Habitat: Found in forests at low and medium altitudes ranging to 1500m, scattered in woods or valleys.
Economic Importance: Locally used in preparing aminado which is a favorite beverage among Filipinos.
Ecological Status: Rare.
