Lamog – Planchonia spectabilis
Family: Lecythidaceae
Description: A large tree growing up to 20m in height and a diameter of 60cm. Bark is dark brown and slightly flaky. Leaves turn red when mature, flowers in February-April.
Distribution: Widely distributed from Luzon to Mindanao
Economic Importance: Moderately hard-heavy heartwood with deep reddish brown color. Wood noted for cabinet making for having straight grains
Ecological status: Depleted due to logging and kaingin-making.
